Melanee Stiassny

As an Alaska born and raised mountain person, Melanee brings a high level of stoke and professionalism to her days in the mountains with each guest. She has been enjoying the Alaskan mountains since birth and started backcountry skiing in 1992. The years spent in the snow climbing up peaks and making turns down some of the most remote places on earth have caused her to have a deep appreciation and respect for backcountry riding and for the places she rides. She lives in Girdwood, AK which she believes is the most beautiful place to find adventure on the daily.

Ari in the Arctic

Ari Stiassny

Born and bred in Alaska, Ari has been an Alaskan ski bum and river guide since earning his biology degree from Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA in 2003. He spent ski bum years in the Wasatch and Chamonix Valley, before returning home to AK in 2006. He met his wife, Melanee on top of Cornbiscuit Mountain in Turnagain Pass while ski touring and they have three adventurous young kids who they have been ski touring with for the last decade, Mia (16), Col Dov (13), and Taz (9).

Jamie Brown

Long-distance travel in the mountains, whether that be 20 miles overnight or a few thousand miles over several months, is what makes me happiest. The excitement of skiing down into a valley for the first time, or coming up to a pass and getting a view you've never seen before. I love to winter camp; playing dice and cards, eating quesadillas, while a storm rages on outside the tent. When the conditions aren't right for skiing, I sew and sell ultralight pyramid tents, puffy pants, and other gear with my partner Abby. In the summer, hiking and sea-kayaking fill my time. I have thru-hiked thousands of miles on the CDT, GDT, and around Alaska.

Maxwell Bonderoff

Skiing is my life-force! Sharing it with others makes it even better. When I'm not out in Turnagain, Alyeska, Hatcher Pass, or Valdez skiing, you can find me with my fiancée Bailey and our dog Murray nestled in our home in Indian, Alaska, or out enjoying the many fishing, biking, paddling, and music splendor AK offers with dear friends and family!

Michael Rhue

Passionate about all things water. Raised surfing the Outer Banks of NC, now finding joy riding another wave of water! I also enjoy ice climbing, wild ice skating, resort riding, and volunteering as incredible ways to spend my free time.

Sam Henderson

Born and raised in Anchorage, Sam grew up playing hockey to endure the long winters. During the midnight sun-filled summers, he could often be found biking, camping, and fishing around South-Central Alaska. After graduating from Bartlett High School, Sam enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving five years as a helicopter crewmember and flight mechanic aboard the Osprey tilt rotor aircraft. Upon completing his service, he returned home to Anchorage and has since found nostalgia in familiar adventures and adrenaline through outdoor sports. Sam also enjoys packrafting, mountain biking, hiking/backpacking, moderate rock/ice climbing, and really any other excuse to be outdoors. In addition to guiding, Sam volunteers with the Alaska Mountain Rescue Group, teaches avalanche education, and still moonlights as a helicopter mechanic.

An Oyster Lover
Flying through the fresh powder
Sparkles and smiles

I love skiing almost as much as I love my dog. A fine connoisseur of sunsets, an ideal day of powder skiing ends in the warm embrace of the dusky alpine glow. My truck works well enough to get me to the mountain, and hopefully home, but it isn't needed for much more. I revel in the darkness of winter and can be found basking in the heat of a rusty burn-barrel late into the evening.
